About Dr. George Korin

George M. Korin DVM, founder of NYC VET HOUSECALLS, began providing home veterinary services to Manhattan residents in 1990. After graduating from the Ontario Veterinary College in Canada, Dr. Korin arrived in the New York City area in 1985 and for 5 years he worked for various area hospitals.

Eager to establish his own veterinary practice, Dr. Korin wanted to provide a more personalized and compassionate service than a standard veterinary clinic could provide, and where patients would feel the most comfortable. The realization was that one’s own home would be that place and so a veterinary house call practice was created to care for patients, surrounded by their caring “parents”,  in the comfort of their own homes. Since then, Dr. Korin has affiliated with three veterinary hospitals (two in Manhattan and one in Long Island City, Queens) so that he can bring his house-call patients in for extended diagnostic, medical, surgical and dental care, thereby continuing to give his patients and clients his personal attention.

Dr. Korin's wife Jeanne, with 25 years experience working with small animals,  provides veterinary house-call assistance and follow-up care for “NYC Vet House Call” patients. Cat sitting and nail-trimming are also available through appointment.

Dr. Korin is a member of the AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association), NYSVMS (New York State Veterinary Medical Society) and the VMA of NYC (Veterinary Medical Association of New York City). He is the  former president (2004) of the NYC Veterinary Medical Association. In 2005 he received the Veterinarian of the Year Award from the Association and its peers.

George and Jeanne Korin share their home with one mixed-breed dog, five felines, and two sons, Adrian and Darius, who sometimes accompany their dad on house calls.  It is quite the "family" practice.

Currently, George Korin is the President of NYSAVE (New York Save Animals in Veterinary Emergency), an NYC not for profit organization affiliated with the Veterinary Medical Association which provides urgent veterinary services to those who cannot afford care.
